Grey batsmen wilt from strong position
HOSTS Grey High missed a perfect opportunity to beat highly rated Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) of Pretoria on day two of the Grey Cricket Festival this week.
Having done well with the ball to limit Affies to 166, Grey found themselves in an ideal position of needing 24 runs to win with eight wickets in hand.
This was due to an excellent third-wicket partnership between skipper David Masterson (58) and Liam Lindsay (74).
However, the pressure got to the Grey batsmen and they proceeded to lose wickets and finally needed a four off the last ball, which they did not manage to get, so the game ended in a draw.
In Thornhill, Dylan Ryan continued his good form to take four for 43 to help Woodridge to a 53-run win over St Charles.
