Records set at Hobie parkrun

TWO records were set at this weekend’s 5km Hobie Beach festive parkrun.

A record attendance of 468 participants completed the course in festive gear, including Father Christmas outfits.

The PE Hobie Beach parkrun started on August 10 last year and since then 3943 runners, including participants from 93 athletics clubs, have completed 19328 runs, covering a distance of 96640km.

Organisers collected a large amount of milk for the Malabar Home for the Aged and stationery for the Eastern Province Child and Youth Care Centre.

NMMU student Ryan Peter broke the course record when he was first past the post in 16.31.

This was his second win in as many attempts.

The results were:

Men: Ryan Peter 16:31, Conway Hardiman 19:39, Bron Turner19:45

Women: Jenne-Lee Schiller 24:04, Anna Heydenrych 24:15, Sonja Bezuidenhout 24:40.

Points competition, men: Bernd Leibenguth 1469, Werner de Lange 1436, Pieter Anker1150

Women: Anna Heydenrych 1520, Linda Blandford 1356, Susan Burri 1314. – Mogan Segadavan
