Seal Point hosts Billabong junior surfers

THE final surfing event in the Billabong Junior Series will be held at Cape St Francis's classic right-hand point-break of Seal Point from Friday to Sunday.

The competition will be fierce at this, the final event of the premier junior series in the country, with several surfers eligible for series titles.

In the under-12 boys' division, York van Jaarsveld leads the pack, with Tide Lee Ireland and Dylan Hendriks close behind.

Max Elkington has a substantial lead in the U14 boys' division, while Koby Oberholzer and Karl Steen are chasing him hard. Sophie Bell is leading the pack in the U14 girls, with Kirsty McGillivray and Olivia Izzard in second and third places respectively.

Jordan Maree is out in front in the U16 boys, with Jake Elkington and Joshe Faulkner close behind, while talented natural-footer Ruth Armstrong leads the U16 girls from Michelle Verreynne and Danica Stockigt.

In the Premier U20 Pro Junior ratings, Emma Smith leads the ranks among the women, followed by Chanelle Botha and Gina Smith.

Max Armstrong leads the Pro Junior Men, but Diran Zakarian, Dylan Lightfoot and Matt McGillivray are not far behind.
