Table tennis premier league matches prove exciting

DESPITE losing 7-4, Callies A put up a good fight against Aryan A in their Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis premier league match this week.

They proved to be tough opponents and the match could have gone either way.

In another close encounter, Aryan B edged Ivan Peter 7-4. Although Monde Cola (Ivan Peter) won all his matches, including an exciting contest with Dean Bailey (11-8, 8-11, 11-4), Aryan B have shown they are a force to be reckoned with.

In the first league, Aryan C were in top form against Livvie Alumni A, winning 11-0. The in-form Zeenal Bhana, Younus Choonara and Claud Lawack were in control throughout.

Lawack had an exciting game, edging Eugene Stallenberg 5-11, 11-8, 11-8.

In the remaining match, Callies B had their hands full against Despatch, winning 8-3. Suresh Norman and Kanen Vandayar shone for Callies, winning all their matches.

  •  The Callies club will be having their annual open tournament tomorrow at the Malabar Community Centre, starting at 9am.
