Pefa junior leagues take deserved break

THE PE Football Association juniors took a well-earned rest at the weekend after the completion of round one of the season.

In the U9 division, the Callies Highlanders are unbeaten after eight games and top the log with 24 points. They are followed by St George's Aces on 21 points with their only loss coming against the Highlanders.

Callies Thistles and Callies Bravehearts occupy third and fourth spots with Priory Rangers fifth.

In the U11s, Callies also lead the way with 16 points, having accumulated five wins and one draw. PE City and FC Mabayibone are second and third respectively on 13 points each with PE City enjoying a goal-difference advantage.

St George's are unbeaten in the U13 section with 24 points from their eight games followed by Callies A on 21. Callies B occupy third spot on 16.

There are 11 teams in the U15 division this season and Motherwell Academy are setting the pace after 10 games with 21 points from seven wins and three losses.

The Hearts Eagles and Callies A are on 20 each with only one goal placing the Eagles ahead of Callies. This is the most competitive age group with only six points separating the top seven teams.

St George's head the bunch in the U17 section on 17 points, having won five and drawn two of their games. Motherwell Academy are snapping at their heels on 16 while United Brothers are third with 13.

St George's and KwaDwesi All Stars U17 teams represented Pefa in the Engen Knockout Challenge last weekend.

KwaDwesi were knocked out in the pool games but St George's went all the way to the final, losing a tight game 1-0 to PE Sundowns.
