SOWETO giants Kaizer Chiefs are expected to arrive in Port Elizabeth for the second phase of their pre-season training camp on Friday.

The Glamour Boys, who ended the Premiership League title race in second place, are gearing for the start of the new season on August 9.

Chiefs play their first match of the league away to Free State Stars at the Charls Mopeli Stadium in Free State.

Team manager Bobby Motaung says the team are coming to Port Elizabeth for a training camp but they were also organising friendly matches with local semi-professional teams.

"The team leaves for PE on Friday and will only return to Johannesburg shortly before the Carling Cup pre-season match against Orlando Pirates [later in month].

"Our plan is to ensure all the four PSL titles on offer come to our headquarters in Naturena next season."

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University facility coordinator Krish Williamson confirmed Chiefs will use the university's Second Avenue campus sports field as their training venue.

Chiefs will bring all their players including new signings Siphelele Mthembu from Platinum Stars and former Moroka Swallows defender Levy Mokgothu.

Chiefs' last visit to Port Elizabeth was when they hosted Bloemfontein Celtics in a Premier Soccer League match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in 2012. - Mthetho Ndoni
