Ingram takes over reins at Warriors

FORMER Proteas batsman Colin Ingram has been named captain of the Chevrolet Warriors for the coming cricket season.

The announcement ends Davy Jacobs's six- season reign as skipper of the franchise. Jacobs will continue as a player in the squad.

Cricket Eastern Cape released a statement late yesterday saying it was time for change.

"Ingram with his international experience had captained the team on a couple of occasions in the absence of Davy Jacobs and has shown he possesses all the attributes to lead the team into a new era," the statement read.

Chairman of the board John Ross-Smith said they believed the hard-working Ingram would naturally lead by example and assist the young Warriors team to once again bring back silverware to the Eastern Cape.
