NMMU march on towards Pefa Premier League title

VODACOM NMMU Madibaz continued their march towards the Pefa Premier League title with a convincing 3-0 win over Warriors at their South Campus Stadium.

Despite dominating the game on Friday evening, Madibaz only led 1-0 at half time after Cloudius Sagandira capitalised on sloppy defending to squeeze the ball past the Warriors goalkeeper.

Ten minutes into the second half, Sagandira completed his brace and with time running out Zukisani Mtendani made the final score 3-0.

Madibaz are building a team for the Varsity Football Challenge which kicks off on Friday.

The students begin their quest for inter-varsity honours with a home match against North West University.

On Saturday, Callies outclassed NMB Municipality to win 5-2 at the Westbourne Oval. Zaahid Dolly and Chad Schimper struck twice within the space of 10 minutes to put Callies 2-0 ahead at the break.

In the second half, Gregory Damons, Warren Reid and Darryn Bamboo completed the rout. In a Reserve League match played earlier, Callies outclassed Municipality 3-0.

At Victoria Park, defending champions Central Acemates made light work of Motherwell Academy, winning 3-0 after leading 1-0 at half time.

Sobekwa Malobongwe and Bongani Matebese added to the first half strike by Nceba Mroqoza.

In a thrilling encounter on the EC Defence field, Forresters completed their second successive encounter beating PE Defence 4-2.

A goal by Anele Yaya Gadlela saw Forresters leading 1-0 at half time. In the second half, Defence struck twice to lead 2-1.

Their joy was short-lived as Ayanda Mthethwa scored twice to put Forresters 3-2 up. Mxolisi Mosima made it 4-2 ten minutes before the final whistle.

In Kemsley Park, PE Homerovers edged out Kwadwesi All Stars 3-2.

Siboniseni Fana (2) and Hanse Le-Roy scored for Rovers.
