Gamble reclaim relay title

IN perfect conditions, the Gamble Pharmacy men's relay team broke the course record by more than four minutes to reclaim the Investec Night Relay title in the second round.

In the idyllic setting of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday, almost 100 corporate and social teams took to the streets of Sydenham in the second of four race nights.

Champions Gamble Pharmacy finished the 25km course in a fast one hour, 16 minutes, ahead of a spirited Transnet team who had won the first round contest.

The Flying Sages from Sage VIP claimed third spot for the second month in a row.

In the women's category, Aquabear won in 1:49 from Wimpy and Access Management.

In the mixed running category, Transnet Lions won for the second time in a row (1:29), followed by Investec 1 and the Never Give Up team from the Metro.

In the walking category, Bluewater Bay Athletics remain the team to beat, winning round two in 1:24 from the Transnet Tigers and the social team Happy Gas.

The third leg takes place on July 10.
