Clever women ahead in league

LOG leaders Vodacom NMMU Madibaz came back from a goal down to beat Tomorrow Stars 2-1 in a thrilling Safa-NMB Regional Women's league match played at the NMMU south campus on Saturday.

Tomorrow Stars took the lead early in the first half, but that was cancelled out by a great left-footed drive from striker Khanyisa Mapelana.

The match was evenly poised throughout the second half until a late strike by Taskeen Daniels, with only a few minutes left on the clock, saw Madibaz pick up maximum points.

African Chiefs, who are a point behind the students, beat a determined BodeneShatterprufe 4-2.

It was another dark day for tailenders Black Vultures who were thrashed 8-0 by Sophakama. Vultures remain the only team in the league without a point.
