Double-headers could cause leader shuffle

AFTER gruelling double-headers for all the teams, the position at the top of the Nafa Premier League could change hands for the fourth time in four weeks this weekend.

Bloom Callies, who became the log leaders last week for the first time, tackle Westlake on Finnis 1 tomorrow and Hotspurs at the Dyke on Sunday.

After setting the early pace, Hotspurs have lost their last four league matches to slip down to fourth.

In between, they were knocked out of the Mala Moodaley KO Cup competition in the preliminary round to Fairview Rovers but were reinstated after Rovers were declared defaulters. But the reprieve did not help them as they were beaten by Glenville in the first round proper last week.

Hotspurs play Ebenezer on Gelvan 1 tomorrow.

Blackpool, who were toppled from the top of the log after just one week when they lost to Fairdene, play Glenville tomorrow and Fairview Rovers on Sunday.

While they should beat Rovers, they could struggle against the defending champions.

Blackpool and Glenville are second and third on the log.

Glenville play Ebenezer in the second match on Sunday.

Fairdene play Stardrift at Marock Road tomorrow and Westlake on Finnis 1 on Sunday.

The debutants should pick up maximum points to remain among the pacesetters.
