Grey fight back to draw match against Dale

IN an interesting contrast of styles, Grey High and Dale played to a 2-2 draw in their schoolboys hockey match at Grey at the weekend.

The visitors, who were quick and direct, took Grey somewhat by surprise and went into half-time with a 2-0 lead through a brace of well-taken penalty corners from Callum Hansen.

The Dale player was an extremely effective target man, creating numerous circle entries and penalty corner chances through his exceptional skills.

However, Grey lifted their game after the break and, with a well-structured build-up, got back into the game.

Laython Coombs followed up well after a penalty corner had been initially saved to make it 2-1.

Near the end of the game, Kurt Wicht scored from a well- rehearsed penalty corner variation to level the scores.

It was an exciting game of hockey played in perfect conditions in front of a loud and appreciative crowd.
