Shake-up at top of Nafa league

THE position at the top of the Nafa Premier League changed hands for the third time in three weeks on Saturday when Blackpool, who became the log leaders for the first time last week, lost 2-1 to a determined Fairdene at Finnis 1.

The newly promoted outfit surprised the log-leaders when they took the lead in the 11th minute. Their joy was short- lived as Jonneton Pokbas put Blackpool level within minutes.

Midway into the second half Fairdene caught the Blackpool defence napping with a quick free-kick to take maximum points and cap an excellent fortnight. Last week they beat Hotspurs, then the log-leaders.

Meanwhile, Hotspurs' dismal run after being knocked out of the Mala Moodaley KO Cup competition continued when they lost their fourth consecutive match, going down 2-1 to Helenvale in their own back yard, the Dyke. This opened the door for Bloom Callies to become the log-leaders following their 1-0 win over Shamrocks at Malabar. Kurt Gabriel scored the only goal of the match.

After scoring their first win of the season last week Fairview Rovers were back on the receiving end, losing 2-0 to Westlake
