Ikamva move towards title

WITH three matches remaining, Ikamva Movers are just one point away from being crowned the Mofa Build-it Premier League champions.

On Sunday, Movers thrashed the off-form Liverpool 5-2.

The log-leaders made their intentions clear from the kickoff and two goals in two minutes saw them leading 2-0 within 15 minutes.

Moremi Thabo completed his hat-trick to put Movers 4-0 ahead at the break. In the second half, Movers took the foot off the pedal and Liverpool capitalised with Lungisa Fiti scoring twice to make it 4-2.

As Liverpool pushed ahead their defence was left wide open and Manengele Ayanda made the final score 5-2.

The much anticipated clash between Shinning Stars and Tomorrow Stars lived up to expectations.

Shinning squandered an early opportunity to take the lead and paid the penalty when striker Lukhanyo Dayile outpaced the Shinning defence to put Tomorrow 1-0 ahead.

With Shinning depending on the long ball and Tomorrow on short passes, fans were treated to a thrilling encounter.

Midway in the second half Tomorrow striker Nceba Sizani rounded the keeper to score one of the easiest of goals.

Shinning never gave up and were rewarded when Bhongolwethu Mafelefele made it 2-1, but it was too little too late.

Shinning, who lost by the same margin in the first round, have not won a match since the semifinals of the Easter Tournament.

Meanwhile, the battle to avoid relegation continued with Young Ideas picking up an invaluable point when they drew 0-0 with Young Tigers.

Lion Stars kept their hopes alive with a 4-2 win over Real Strikers. On Saturday, they went down 4-2 to Milan Stars.
