UITENHAGE-born international running star Lusapho April heads a strong Gamble Pharmacy team for tomorrow’s Investec Night Relay at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Olympian April, who is a two-time Two Oceans half-marathon winner and came third in last year’s New York City Marathon, is part of the champion team who have won the series every year since its inception in 2011.

He will be joined by Brendon Ellenaar, Mariano Esan, Duwayne Lucas and Saly Makanda, and they will start the event as firm favourites.

The night relay is a fun team-building event for companies and is open to running teams of five people and walking teams of three. Each team member is required to complete a 5km loop around the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium area.

The event starts at 6pm from the stadium and will finish at 8.30pm with the awards presentation and lucky draw prizes, including R1000.

The series will consist of four race nights to be held monthly between May and August.

The series forms part of Investec’s support for urban renewal in the city and also supports charities.

This year’s nominated charity is the ACVV Kamvalethu Drop-in Centre in Korsten.

Late entries are possible on the evening, with teams required to report for entry between 4.30pm and 5.30pm at the lakeside entrance of the stadium.
