Easy Sunridge win for Mfunzi

FRESH from her success in the South African leg of the global Wings for Life World Run in Stellenbosch last week, Nedbank runner Ntombesintu Mfunzi was an easy winner of the women's category in the Sunridge Village 10km race on Saturday.

She finished in 35 minutes, 53 seconds, almost three minutes ahead of teammate Babalwa Ngcoko. Junior Jamie-Lee Schlemmer, an emerging star of the future, finished third.

In a sprint finish in the men's category, Zolani Ngqaqa (Madibaz) beat Melakhaya Frans (Nedbank) by just one second with Mariano Eesau a mere four seconds behind. MICHAEL Kingston was first past the post – his fourth win in 10 appearances – in Saturday's Hobie Beach Parkrun, finishing the 5km course in 19:11.

In the women's category Adri Wessels finished first for the fourth time in six appearances in the run.

At the weekend 329 runners, including 51 first-timers, participated.
