Defenders will need to turn it on

the Nebfa Sedgars Premier League soccer title already in the bag, City Defenders will be playing for pride when they take on champions-elect Dodgers at the Chevrolet Stadium on Sunday.

Dodgers have an unassailable nine-point lead on the log, while Defenders are dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Five teams are locked in the battle for the runners-up spot.

Red City, who head the chasing pack, play relegation-haunted Black Stars, while Roaring Tigers and Winter Rose, who trail City Red by a point, play PE Sundowns and CCX Callies.

Tigers have the more difficult assignment as Sundowns are sixth and could finish above them if they win their remaining matches and Tigers lose their games.

Fixtures, Tomorrow: Noon – Roaring Tigers v PE Sundowns; 1.30pm – City Lads v Amakhosi; 3pm – Real White City v Bush Bucks. Sunday: 10.30am – Boast Pirates v Stinging Bees; noon – Dodgers v City Defenders; 1.30pm – Winter Rose v CCX Callies; 3pm – Red City v Black Stars
THE position at the top of the Pefa Premier League could change hands this evening when Hearts and NMMU Madibaz clash at Lawson Brown High.

The teams are level on points, with Madibaz ahead on goal difference after thrashing Callies 6-0 last week.

Callies should score a morale-boosting win when they host struggling Motherwell Academy in Londt Park.

In the third match this evening, NMB Municipality will be hoping to recover from their 9-0 loss at the hands of Forresters last week when they play KwaDwesi All Stars at the Westbourne Oval.

KwaDwesi were hammered 6-2 by Warriors last week. Warriors play high-riding PE Defence on Sunday.

All the matches kickoff at 8.15pm.

Fixtures, Tonight: Callies v Motherwell Academy (Londt Park); Hearts v NMMU (Lawson Brown); NMB Municipality v KwaDwesi All Stars (Westbourne Oval). Tomorrow: Forresters v PE Homerovers (EC Defence). Sunday: Warriors v PE Defence (Diaz Club); Central Acemates v Highbury (Westbourne Oval) – Mogan Segadavan
