Race for Mofa title honours hots up

WITH five matches remaining, the battle for the Mofa Build-it Premier League title is hotting up.

On Sunday log leaders Ikamva Movers had to fight back from as early as the 10th minute to beat a determined Crystal Palace 2-1.

Palace took the lead when Honi "Maradona" Mlungiseleli latched onto a perfect cross to hit the back of the net with an excellent volley. Midway in the half Moyikwa Bonani nodded home the equaliser.

In the second half, Movers gambled by introducing their top striker Mbongeni Yako who missed their last two matches through injury. This paid off as he scored the all-important goal.

Bottom-of-the-log Manchester United scored a well-deserved 3-1 win over Valencia who won the Easter soccer tournament. This was Valencia's second consecutive defeat in the league.

United showed scant respect for their opponents who are second on the log and ran up a 2-0 lead at the break with goals by Aphelele Tshoni and Mali Luvuyo.

After the break, Oyise Nkululeko made it 3-0. United then took the foot off the pedal and allowed Mabhengu Xolisa to score a consolation goal for Valencia. Young Romans recovered from their shock defeat last week to thrash Young Ideas 5-0 after leading 3-0 at the break.

Siyabonga Khohliso led the charge with a hat-trick while Bonga Makheba and Lindile Xesi completed the rout.
