LION City ended Callies’ hopes of winning the Safa-SAB League title on Sunday when they beat the Londt Park outfit 2-1 in the penultimate fixture.
However, they will be rooting for Callies when they play Subs at the NU2 Stadium in their final fixture. Going into the weekend’s clash City trailed Subs by a single point, with Callies a point behind them.
Callies had to beat both City and Subs to win the title. After the defeat by City over the weekend they only finish third.
However, they can influence who wins the championship. A win or a draw will hand the trophy to City, who should beat Highland Spurs in their final fixture. In the first round they won 2-1 while Callies beat Subs 3-2.
At the bottom of the log Tomorrow Stars eased their relegation worries with an excellent 3-0 win over Showvillage United. Peace United also saved their bacon when they beat neighbours Central Acemates 1-0.
Sunrise Development will be relegated to their local football associations even if they win their final match.
