Motherwell hoping to avoid drop

MOTHERWELL Academy's hopes of escaping relegation from the Safa-NMB SAB League received a boost on Sunday when they beat Royal Bucks 3-2.

With Sunrise Development already doomed despite their 2-1 win over Hotspurs, the battle for the second team to join them is between Motherwell, Tomorrow Stars and Peace United.

With a game in hand, Motherwell seem to be the best bet to avoid relegation.

Both Hotspurs and Fairview Rovers, who are locked in the battle for fourth spot, dropped invaluable points. While Hotspurs lost to Sunrise, Rovers drew 3-3 with Island City.

The three contenders for the league title – Subs, Lion City and Callies – had their matches postponed because of waterlogged fields.

Results: Hotspurs 1 Sunrise Development 2, Highland Spurs 1 Camper United 2, Fairview Rovers 3 Island City 3, Motherwell Academy 3 Royal Bucks 2. - Mogan Segadavan
