WESTERING came back strongly in the second half to defeat Otto du Plessis 20-17 in their schools rugby clash at Otto at the weekend.
In a well-contested game played in a great spirit, Otto dominated the first half to lead 14-3 at half time through tries by Riaan Isak and Christopher Wright, with Wright adding the conversions.
The second half started with early exchanges of penalties, giving the home team a 17-6 lead for the majority of the second half.
Finally Westering turned it on in the closing stages to score two converted tries by Keegan Bouwer and Breyton Slabbert, taking the lead with a few minutes to go. Otto then piled on the pressure, but Westering held on for a hard-fought win.
