VP grab victory in ultra-close match

VICTORIA Park won a tight schools rugby encounter against Port Alfred High in Port Alfred at the weekend, edging home 15-14.

The Kowie team's smaller pack displayed immense will and determination to drive over two converted tries to lead 14-0 before VP replied with a try by lock Luke Meyer just before half time.

It was converted by flyhalf Roshaan Stembull to make it 14-7 at the break.

Early in the second half, VP No8 Sesona Macala broke through for an unconverted try to reduce the deficit to two points.

With eight minutes remaining, VP took the lead through a penalty by Stembull and they held on for the victory.
