Ivan Peter prove too good for Pride

BOOYSENS Pride had their hands full when they clashed with Ivan Peter in an exciting and competitive match in the Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis premier league this week.

The tenacity and determination by Ivan Peter ensured them a win when they edged their rivals 8-3. Monde Cola and Nceba Ngcingwane were Ivan Peter's star players.

The most exciting encounter saw Ngcingwane beat Vernal Higgins 11-4 9-11 14-12.

Callies A struggled in their clash against Aryan A, coming unstuck 11-0 against an in-form trio of Michael de Kock, Ridaa Hendricks and Thiagasen Pather.

The NMMU A side defeated their B team earlier in the week 9-2, although the final scoreline was not a true reflection of the fixture.

The individual matches were close, but Dipal Bhana and Pranev Naidu showed their class in winning their ties.

In the first league, despite Prishen Ryan winning all his matches, MMMU C could not match the unbeaten Aryan C, going down 7-4.

The closest encounter saw captain Younus Choonara (Aryan C) shading Ashley Peo 9-11 11-2 11-8.

Callies B beat NMMU D 7-4 and Livvie Alumni B lost to NMMU E 8-3.

Neelan Rama won all his matches for NMMU E.

The last match saw a closely contested encounter between Despatch and Livvie Alumni A. Tied at 5-5, it came down to the last doubles clash, which Despatch won to edge their opponents 6-5.
