Contrasting fates as season winds down

THE Barclays Whisky league bowls season culminates tomorrow and the contrast in the men's and women's leagues could not be greater.

The Woods women have opened a lead of 11.5 points over nearest rivals PE and with only seven points on offer, have successfully defended their title. The Woods teams have lost only three games in the entire season, accumulating a massive 279 shot profit in the process.

In what could prove to be a notable double, The Woods are also 3.5 points ahead in the second league, where there are only five points at stake.

The men's league is a totally different story where any one of four clubs can win.

Westview have enjoyed their most successful season in recent years and have a slender half-point lead over Mill Park, 1.5 over The Woods and 3.5 over PE.

What makes things even more interesting is that the fixtures for the weekend pit Westview against The Woods and PE against Mill Park.

Only the second league has already been decided with The Woods having secured top spot.
