Panthers claw their way to softball champs

IN a closely contested final softball league match of the season, Nexia SAB & T Park Panthers came from behind to beat Jaguars' Cubs 13-12 at Londt Park to claim the title.
The Cubs players did well to push their opponents all the way, while Vicki Terblanche, Sismari Engelbrecht, Storme Ferreira, Chene Oelofse and Mariaan and Alta-Mari Grebe shone for the winning team.
The star of the match was Mariaan Grebe, who had a batter's dream by scoring a home run with the bases loaded. She received the trophy for the softball player of the season.
The Eastern Cape team to compete in the provincial championship in Cape Town from tomorrow to Sunday is: Terblanche, Mariaan Grebe, Alta-Mari Grebe, Oelofse, Engelbrecht.
