Spin twins star to end Zwide's brave efforts

Facing the hosts' total of 179, Zwide were in control for most of the innings as they took their score to 120/3 with 20 overs to go. But Pearson never gave up and spinners Mark Zonneveld (2/35 in 10 overs) and Deyano Klaasen (1/20 in 10 overs) got them back into the game.

With Zwide needing 18 off the last five overs with two wickets in hand, Zonneveld had a moment of brilliance in the field and, with a diving stop and a direct hit, claimed the ninth wicket with a run-out.

Pearson captain Josh Dodd took on the responsibility of bowling the last over and with three runs needed off three balls, he delivered the perfect yorker to hand Pearson a thrilling win as Zwide were dismissed for 177.

Dodd picked up 3/36 in 9.4 overs.

Siyamthanda Gqibitole was superb for the visitors, holding their innings together with 61 off 83 balls.

In Pearson's innings, Dumisani Ncwembe was the pick of the Zwide bowlers with 3/28 in 10 overs, while Kyle Jacobs top-scored with 41.

ýCenturies from Bevan Potgieter and captain Keeran Forbes set the Pearson U15A team up for an impressive 295-run victory over Port Alfred in their 40-overs fixture.

With Potgieter hitting 131 and Forbes 139, Pearson amassed 376/2 as the pair posted 339 for the second wicket. It was Forbes's second century of the year after scoring his first against Victoria Park.

Port Alfred continued to struggle, being dismissed for 81.

Brenden Basson (5/42) was the pick of the Pearson bowlers, supported by Daniel Morris (4/21).
