The Motherwell Freedom Run will now be known as the Nelson Mandela Bay Freedom Run.
Race founder Michael Mbambani, 40, said he had started it in 2011 as he wanted to “introduce the sport of road running into the community”.
It is the only road race on the Eastern Province Athletics calendar to take place in one of the Nelson Mandela Bay townships.
There are 5km and 10km races in the run on March 26. – Jose Assam
