Adams leads from front in victory

NMMU A player Kurt Adams showed good form at the start of the Nelson Mandela Bay Table Tennis Union premier league at the Malabar Community Hall this week.

Although the result of the match between NMMU A and Aryan B was not a true reflection of the encounter, Adams led from the front and sealed it with a 11-9 6-11 11-5 win over Neil Hendricks. That helped NMMU A to a 7-4 victory.

The other premier league fixture developed into an exciting clash between Booysens Pride and Callies A.

In a close encounter, in which Vernal Higgins won all his matches for Booysens Pride, the scores were level at 5-5 with the last doubles to be played.

Higgins and Melvin Septoo rose to the occasion, beating John Julius and Dion Muller 11-4 11-3 to clinch the match 6-5.

In the first league, NMMU C were too strong for Despatch, getting home 9-2.

NMMU's Prishen Ryan was in fine form, winning all his matches, including an exciting encounter against Julian Horne 14-11 11-4.

NMMU E struggled in their clash against Callies B, going down 11-0.

Shaun Domingo, Sureshan Norman and Kanen Vandayar led the way for Callies B.

In the last match of the night, NMMU D defeated Livvie Alumni B 8-3.
