Semifinals berth still possible for Madibaz

THANKS to their hard-fought 18-12 win over Wits in Johannesburg on Monday, the Madibaz have put themselves back in contention for a berth in the Varsity Cup rugby semifinals.

Consecutive home defeats against the Ikeys and Pukke put the Madibaz on the back foot, but they returned to winning ways with an impressive away win over Wits.

The ambitious Madibaz outfit face another stern test of their title credentials when they face second-placed Tuks in another must-win game in Pretoria on Monday.

The Madibaz have moved up to fifth place on the log with 13 points and are now well positioned to make a late charge into the top four. After Monday's game against Tuks, the Madibaz travel to Bloemfontein to face the Shimlas in their final round-robin match on March 17. -
