Scotland test 'tribute to Bay fans'

The decision by SA rugby chiefs to award Port Elizabeth a Springbok rugby test against Scotland on June 28 was a tribute to the rugby-loving fans in the region, Eastern Province rugby boss Cheeky Watson said.

Watson was commenting after the SA Rugby Union confirmed Scotland would play a one-off test against the Boks at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

"We are excited about this announcement and it is a tribute to the people of Port Elizabeth, who support rugby in great numbers," Watson said.

"Now that the Kings are going to play in the Premier Division of the Currie Cup, it is vital that fans support the test and pack the stadium. The awarding of a test match to the metro is further proof that EP rugby is on the rise." -
