Students poised to wrap up Premier League title again

THE NMB Premier League cricket title will be decided this weekend as Mecer NMMU1 enter their final round of fixtures.

The defending champion students finish their league campaign with a double header at Maritime Motors Old Grey tomorrow, and Heatherbank on Sunday.

NMMU1 need to win at least one of the fixtures to retain the trophy meaning they can afford a slip-up against Old Grey and still clinch it with a win over Heatherbank the next day.

A betting man, however, would put sizeable amounts of rands on NMMU1 winning both fixtures. They have proved potent and unstoppable this season, wiping the floor with all of their opposition. This weekend should prove no different as long as they do not get too far ahead of themselves.

SA Home Loans Union will be keeping an eye on the NMMU1 game tomorrow because a win for the Madibaz would pave the way for them to finish second if they beat ADT Pirates, also tomorrow.

This weekend's fixtures are (home teams first, 10am start):

Tomorrow: Mecer NMMU1 v Maritime Motors Old Grey; SA Home Loans Union v ADT Pirates; Welcome v Gelvandale; Tavcor Greenbushes v Buco Uitenhage, Heatherbank v Northville, United Brothers v NMMU2; Despatch v Rhodes

Sunday: NMMU1 v Heatherbank, Greenbushes v NMMU2, Rhodes v PECC, Despatch v United Brothers
