Potent Pukke maul mediocre Madibaz

THE Madibaz were left with a mountain to climb if they want to qualify for the semifinals of the Varsity Cup after they crashed to a heavy 52-16 defeat against a rampant Pukke outfit at NMMU Stadium last night.

After losing to the Ikeys on home soil last week, the Madibaz were outplayed by a formidable Pukke team who crossed for seven tries and are now among the favourites to go all the way in the competition.

Behind 23-0 at the break, the writing was on the wall for the outplayed Madibaz when the North West University outfit crossed for their fourth try early in the second half after indifferent defensive play by the home side. The joy was clear to see on Francois Robbertse’s face as he snuffed out any hope of the home team mounting a second-half fightback.
