EIGHT clubs will compete in the East Cape Surf Lifesaving Championships, being hosted by Kings Beach this weekend.
The championships take place at Kings Beach, starting at 7am on Sunday. Surf lifesavers from the Woodridge, Sardinia Bay, Summerstrand, Hobie Beach, Seagulls (Humewood Beach), Kings Beach, Bluewater Bay and East London clubs will be competing.
As many as 200 volunteer surf lifeguards will compete in flags, board race, surf swim, double ski, beach sprints, taplin, beach relay, single ski and iron man events. Local competitors will be honing their skills for the national championships, being held at The Strand next month.
