Keen competition between log leaders

WITH the top four teams in the Nebfa Sedgars Premier League in action at the New Brighton Oval tomorrow evening, soccer followers in the area should be in for a treat.

In the early match PE Sundowns, who led the race until two weeks ago, play Winter Rose. Both are tied in third place. In the late game log-leaders Dodgers take on Red City, who are in second place. Last week City thrashed Sundowns. If they can repeat the form they have an excellent chance of becoming the log-leaders for the first time this season because they should pick up maximum points against Amakhosi in the late game on Sunday.

The clash between Bush Bucks and Stinging Bees at the Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday could also be a real humdinger. Bees have been in excellent form in recent weeks.

Tomorrow (New Brighton Oval): 6pm; Winter Rose v PE Sundowns, 7.30pm; Dodgers v Red City. Saturday (Chevrolet Stadium): noon; Bush Bucks v Stinging Bees, 1.30pm; Boast Pirates v Eastern Jumpers, 3pm; Black Stars v City Lads. Sunday (City Defenders Field): 1.30pm; City Defenders v CCX Callies, 3pm; Amakhosi v Real White City.

THE teams at the top of the Nodefa VW Community Trust Premier League should continue to jostle for position this weekend.

Log-leaders Mbabala Young Stars face a tricky match against mid-table Manchester United on Saturday.

If they fail, Kabah United Brothers are just three points adrift and will draw level as they should have an easy match against struggling Khayelitsha Stars.

The match of the weekend should be the clash between early log-leaders Golden Chiefs and Really Rangers. They are separated by one point in third and fourth place.

Tomorrow: 5.30pm; City Friends v Eleven Stars, 7.10pm; New City Stars v City Style. Saturday: Young Pirates v Manchester Babes, Khayelitsha Stars v Kabah United Brothers, Jamaican Stars v Black Aces, Golden Chiefs v Really Rangers, Manchester United v Mbabala Young Stars. Sunday: Stokes United v Young Callies.
