Students continue on path to Bay Premier title

MECER NMMU1 continued their stroll to the Nelson Mandela Bay Premier League cricket title with two convincing nine-wicket victories at the weekend.

On Saturday, the students hosted Gelvandale, who kept them in the field for almost 45 overs to reach 91 all out.

Josh Dolley and Colin Ackermann took four wickets apiece before opening batsmen Eddie Moore bullied an unbeaten half- century to help the defending champions to victory in 17 overs.

NMMU1 then travelled to face Greenbushes yesterday and yawned their way to another easy win. They dismissed Greenbushes for 71, with Shaun Wilke top scoring with 24. Moore took three wickets while Dolley and Solo Nqweni took two each.

NMMU1 needed only 15 overs to get home, with Peter Furstenburg scoring 28 not out.

The SA Home Loans' title chase was finally put to bed on Saturday when Union suffered a second consecutive loss, this time against NMMU2.
