Highbury extend run with win over Stars

HIGHBURY continued on their winning streak when they beat neighbours Morning Stars 2-1 in a Safa Eastern Cape Second Division League soccer match at the Zwide Stadium.

Both sides started the game on a high note on Friday but Highbury eventually proved too strong for their opponents.

Highbury had several scoring chances in the early stages, but they failed to find the net.

Coach Garth Dickinson said he was excited by the performance of his players, but they still needed to overcome the problem of misfiring in front of goal.

"I'm glad we collected the maximum points but we should have won the game with a bigger score," Dickinson said.

"The boys did well because we are now able to better our position on the log table."

Dickinson said nothing was going to stop the team from winning again.

Meanwhile, another Port Elizabeth side campaigning in the Second Division, Real City, played to a dull 1-1 draw against Cacadu United at the Ward 4 sports field in Alexandria on Saturday. - Mthetho Ndoni
