Jordaan appointed interim cricket boss

FORMER PE Cricket Board president Max Jordaan has been appointed by Cricket South Africa (CSA) to oversee EP Cricket's administrative duties until new directors are elected next month.

Jordaan, who holds the position of transformation and relationship manager at CSA, has been entrusted with looking after the election process as well as making sure matters run smoothly up until and after next week's test match against Australia.

Jordaan is also the brother of SA Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan.

Arbitrator Judge Frank Kroon last week ruled in favour of five disgruntled clubs who had taken the matter to the Port Elizabeth High Court after their nominees were omitted from the list of election candidates.

"Following a largely unnecessary and costly process, we welcome the arbitration rulings of Judge Frank Kroon and will now implement these," CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat said.

"CSA will immediately oversee the administrative responsibilities which will include the test match starting on February 20 until a new board is elected. We have appointed Max Jordaan as the interim administrator. We thank Judge Kroon for finally bringing this matter to a close."

The date for the election is scheduled to be released later this week.
