Progress in key clash with EL's Winter Rose

PROGRESS, who have started their Eastern Cape Super 12 club rugby campaign on a high, will be looking to continue with their impressive run when they clash with East London's Winter Rose at the Uitenhage Central Field tomorrow.

Just like they did last season, Progress have sent strong messages to their opponents with polished performances.

They convincingly dispatched every team that stood in their way last season – only stumbling in the final. But this season they will be looking to go all the way and lift the trophy.

On paper, the Uitenhage side should easily put their opponents to the sword, but Rose will be looking to make a name for themselves against one of the league's favourites.

Harlequins will be hoping to get their title defence on track when they host Caltex Crusaders at the Adcock Stadium.

But Saders will also be determined to get back to winning ways after being outplayed by Progress last weekend.

Quins also went down to arch-rivals Progress in their opening Group B game. They did not play last week.

The northern areas side will be well rested, while Saders go into the encounter with the momentum of having played competitive games since the first week. But Quins had the better of their neighbours last season.

In Group A, Gardens will look to make it three wins in as many games when they welcome African Bombers in Rosedale. Gardens started their campaign better than last season and will be aiming to keep it that way.

But the visitors will want maximum points after they lost their opening game.

The game should be intriguing as both sides know each other's style of play.

After losing to Gardens last weekend, Kruisfontein will be looking to come back with maximum points when they travel to East London to face Cambridge. The Humansdorp side will fancy their chances. But Cambridge will not want to be humiliated in front of their fans.

In other games, Walter Sisulu University will travel to Grens High School to play against Buffaloes in Group A.

In Group B, Old Collegians will play East London Police in East London.

Kick-off is at 3.30 in all the games.
