Sun should shine on PE Sundowns

THE smart money will be on PE Sundowns retaining their place at the top of the Nebfa Sedgars Premier League when they play Bush Bucks at the Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday.

Last week goals by Thozamile Ngxesha and Sigaxa Nqupe on either side of the break saw Sundowns open up a three-point lead.

The match between defending champions Real White City and Dodgers, which was abandoned due to bad light, will be played at the New Brighton Oval tomorrow evening. The teams were tied in second place.

Red City, who are now in second place, should have an easy match against Boast Pirates. But PE United, who were once one of the better known teams in New Brighton, seem to be throwing in the towel. They forfeited their match against Pirates last week and are not scheduled to play this weekend.

Fixtures:

Friday (New Brighton Oval) 7pm: Amakhosi v CCX Callies; 8.30: Dodgers v Real White City.

Saturday (Chevrolet Stadium) 10.30am: PE Sundowns v Bush Bucks; 12pm: Stinging Bees v Eastern Jumpers; 1.30pm: Boast Pirates v Red City; 3pm: Roaring Tigers v Real White City.

Sunday (Chevrolet Stadium) 1pm: City Defenders v Black Stars; 2.30pm: Dodgers v Winter Rose.

EVEN if they win their respective matches at the Jabavu Stadium tomorrow evening as expected, New City Stars and Young Callies will not make significant gains in the Nodefa VW Community Trust Premier League.

Stars play Black Aces, who are 18th on the log, with Callies playing tail-enders Young Pirates in the late game.

New log-leaders Mbabala Young Stars face a tricky match against City Friends on Saturday.

Golden Chiefs, who dropped to second spot after a shock 3-0 defeat at the hands of lowly City Style, should score a morale- boosting win when they play struggling Manchester Babes, who are just one place away from the bottom of the log.

Fixtures:

Friday: New City Stars v Black Aces; Young Pirates v Young Callies.

Saturday: Jamaican Stars v Khayelitsha Stars; Really Rangers v Eleven Stars; Golden Chiefs v Manchester Babes; Manchester United v City Style; City Friends v Mbabala Young Stars.

Sunday: Stokes United v Kabah United Brothers.
