Close finish as top four only seconds apart

MELIKHAYA Frans (Nedbank) won the 10km Historic Run in Bethelsdorp, organised by the X-Cel Athletic Club, in 33 minutes.

A mere 16 seconds separated the top four athletes, with Mzwanele Maphekula from Malabar Athletics Club spoiling the party for Nedbank AC when he finished third.

In the women's category Noxolo Hlezupondo (Sandaf) was an easy winner in 43:31.

In the junior women's category twins Megan and Kimberly Wilson (Charlo AC) filled the top two spots.

THERE was an excellent turnout at the weekend's 5km Hobie Beach Parkrun which was attended by the national Parkrun director, Comrades legend Bruce Fordyce.

Because of the Herald cycle tour, participants ran from Hobie Beach to the harbour wall and back.

The next run will return to its original route from Hobie Beach to First Beacon and back.

The results were:

Men: Bennie Stadler 20:14, Devon Lochhead 20:47, Chris Darke 21:13.

Women: Jenne-Lee Schiller 25:40, Elana Loest 25:42, Camryn Riddle 26:01.
