Subs lose position at top of log

SUBS' recent woes in the Safa-NMB SAB League continued when they were held to a goalless draw by arch-rivals Lion City at the NU 2 Stadium in Motherwell.

As a result of Saturday's draw Subs lost their position at the top of the log for the first time this season. They have now managed only two points from their last three matches.

Callies, who beat Subs last week and went into the weekend trailing the Motherwell outfit on goal difference, are the new log leaders.

They thrashed Motherwell Academy 3-0 in Morningside to open up a two-point lead at the top of the log, with City a further two points adrift.

After Sheniel Benn converted a free kick inside the first 10 minutes Callies were all over Motherwell but failed to take their chances.

Midway in the half Cleavon Draai got on to a perfect cross by captain Luvuyo Bika to make the score 2-0.

Late in the game Orenthal Jordaan made the final score 3-0.

A goal on either side of the break saw Fairview Rovers beat Peace United 2-1 in their own backyard at the Walmer High School fields.

Rovers went into the break leading 1-0.
