Definitive game for SAB League

THE Safa-NMB SAB League title could be won tomorrow.

At the end of the first round last Saturday Subs and Callies shared top spot, with Lion City in second place just two points behind.

Subs and City clash at the NU2 Stadium in what could be the final before the final.

In the opening match of the season last year Subs thrashed their Motherwell neighbours and pre-season favourites 4-0 and remained unbeaten until the final round of matches last week when they lost 3-2 to Callies.

The previous week the log-leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Island City. After the initial setback they remained in touch with the frontrunners. A fortnight ago City beat Callies 3-2 and are confident of avenging their defeat.

"We are confident we are the team to beat," City boss Dr Ngubo Biyana said. "We beat Callies in the first round and we are certain we can beat them again.

"Subs caught us with our pants down in the first match and we never recovered. The boys have learnt their lesson and won't make the same mistake again."

Meanwhile a draw or a City win will suit Callies as they should have the beating of Motherwell Academy, despite being held to a goalless draw in the first round.

The three frontrunners are so far ahead that only a major collapse will see anyone from the chasing pack overtake them.
