Junior baseballers show their skills

BASEBALLERS in the junior ranks had a chance to show their skills when the leagues began this past weekend.

In the U10 T-ball section of the MBA junior leagues, the teams from VW, Pirates, Sluggers and Red Sox entertained the spectators with some exciting batting and fielding skills.

Although the emphasis is on fun and learning the rules of the game, it is evident that the children are also competitive and have a strong desire to win, making for some exciting contests.

In the 11-13 age category, Gelvan Angels had their wings clipped by the mighty Cubs team. It was a fast- paced game with some big hits from both teams, but in the end, Cubs played more consistently to edge home.

The final game in the 11-13 category saw Sluggers narrowly shade the powerful Red Sox team.

Red Sox made a strong batting comeback in the last frame, but the Sluggers pitchers held their nerve to close out the game.
