Hard to tell which team will win Safa-NMB League trophy

ALTHOUGH it is still early, this season's Safa-NMB League race will be difficult to call.

Pre-season favourites Lion City, who finished second last year, had a poor start, sharing the points in their first match and losing the second.

The defending champions were also knocked out in the first round of the Safa-NMB SAB leg of the Nedbank Cup.

They came back strongly in their last two matches, thrashing Island City (5-2) and ending Young Ideas' unbeaten run (2-1) last week.

Tomorrow they take on Motherwell Academy at Kemsley Park. Motherwell are having an indifferent season and it is difficult to see them stopping City.

Callies, also one of the challengers for the league title right to the end, are also struggling this year.

They lost their last two matches to Fairview Rovers and Ghetto Stars.

The 3-0 defeat by Stars last week was a bitter pill as the Walmer outfit were making their league debut.

The Londt Park outfit host Highland Spurs at the Westbourne Oval and must be favoured to score a morale-boosting win.

High-riding Ideas, who came down to earth with a bump last week, should have the beating of Despatch Pioneers at the NU9 Stadium.

They beat Motherwell Academy in a Nedbank Cup fixture on Sunday.

Ikamva Movers, who recorded their first win in the league last week, will want to carry on with their winning ways when they face Royal Bucks at NU9 Stadium in Motherwell.

Movers came back with a bang, thrashing Peace United 8-2, a win that will boost their confidence.

Camper United will find it difficult to score their first win of the season when they face Ghetto at the NU9 Stadium.

United had a break last weekend when their game against Fairview Rovers was postponed.

On current form Ghetto should prove too strong for Camper, especially after their resounding 3-0 win over Callies last week.

All matches start at 3pm unless otherwise stated.
