Chippa not happy with draw

CHIPPA United caretaker coach Roger Sikhakhane believes his side could have collected maximum points in the midweek 1-1 PSL draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chilli Boys midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni rescued Sikhakhane's charges with a long-range free kick that beat Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene to level the score after the visitors had led through a first-half strike by Zimbabwean compatriot Cuthbert Malajila.

"We knew they would come out fighting for three points but our strategy was to take the game to them and attack in all departments, especially through our wings, to provide crosses inside the box to the strikers," the coach said.

"I'm not happy with the draw because it means we will only get one point. My intentions were to collect maximum points.

"I might be happy with the players' performance. It was okay. But to drop two crucial points at home is not healthy for me," Sikhakhane said.

He said the team displayed great fighting power against AmaZulu a week ago but the players lacked passion and finishing touch in the clash with Sundowns.

"It's not easy to beat big teams like Sundowns but we had an advantage of home supporters and we failed to capitalise on that.

"We missed so many scoring chances ... we could have scored early in the first half. I want us to collect maximum points when we play at home and we have to be respected when we play at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium."
