Stage set for Pefa junior Cup finals

THE Callies U9A team, the Highlanders, needed 10 minutes of extra time to beat their C team, the Bravehearts, in a PE Football Association Knockout Cup semifinal at Londt Park on Sunday.

The Highlanders eventually came through 3-2, with Zahid Munshie scoring a hat-trick. Avuzwa Mbembe scored a brace for the Bravehearts.

In the other semifinal, St George's Aces beat Priory City 6-0 to set up an exciting KO Cup final against Callies Highlanders.

In the U11 division, PE City went down 4-3 to Priory at Victoria Park, while the St George's Knights beat Callies U11B to book their place in the final.

St George's and Callies dominated the U13 division, both progressing to the final.

Having already bagged the league title, Callies will be aiming to secure the double in both the U11 and U13 divisions, while St George's Aces will be aiming for the same honours in the U9 division.

The U15 division sees Motherwell Academy facing up to the Hearts Eagles in the KO final. The Eagles defeated St George's Colts 3-0 on Sunday, with goals by Runaldo Pedro (penalty), Chris Yerolemou and Samkelo Kakaza. Motherwell beat Callies 2-1 in extra time at Londt Park.

In the U17 division, KwaDwesi All Stars knocked Callies out of contention with a convincing 6-3 win to progress to the final where they will face up to a rampant United Brothers, who thumped Highbury 6-0.

The KO finals in all divisions will be played on September 21 at the Westbourne Oval, from 10am.
