Twins in line to sign for Chippa

CHIPPA United are set to sign Zimbabwean twins Patrick and Peter Mubayiwa from National First Division side Witbank Spurs.

But the strikers are still waiting for their permanent residence permits after having been in the country for more than five years playing for Spurs.

Chilli Boys' spokesman Lukhanyo Mzinzi said the team would sign the brothers only once they become South African citizens.

"They have already applied for their South African IDs and we are waiting for them to be confirmed before we can conclude the deal," Mzinzi said.

Meanwhile, former Free State Stars' defender Mbhuyiselo Sambu has also signed a one-year deal with United while Namibian striker, Theophilus Tsowaseb, has been recruited from Orlando Pirates on a permanent deal ahead of the new season.

Tsowaseb joined the Sea Robbers in January from Namibia and he leaves Pirates without having kicked a ball in official competition.

Sambu has been on trial with the Port Elizabeth side for the past few weeks to give coach Kosta Papic an opportunity to assess him.

The Mubayiwa brothers could be the latest in the list of signings as United strive to beef up their squad before the season begins next month.

The signings so far are: Fatau Dauda (goalkeeper), Chris Komane, Tshepo Motsoeneng, Bheki Nzunga, Siyabonga Zulu, Eric Chipeta (defenders); Mhlengi Cele, Thami Sangweni, Joseph Molangoane, Manti Moholo, William Twala, Mpho Mvelase (midfielders), and David Zulu, Veli Mothwa and Ugonna Uzchukwu (strikers).
