Provincial selectors snub Subs

MOTHERWELL outfit Swartkops Valley United Brothers (Subs) won promotion to ABC Motsepe League last week when they won the Eastern Cape SAB League play-offs in Aliwal North, but none of their players were chosen to represent the province at the national under-23 interprovincial that started in Mahikeng yesterday. "We are disappointed that despite winning the Safa-NMB SAB League and going on to win the play-offs, none of our boys were considered good enough [to be selected]," Subs boss Bongani Zondani said.

"But these things happen and we accept the selectors' decision.

"We will focus on the new challenge [ABC Motsepe League] when we start training next week".

The good news for the metro is that three players from local clubs will be travelling to North West Province for the interprovincial.

Lion City (Mihlali Mkonto) and Callies (Gregory Damons), who finished second and third in the Safa-NMB SAB League have one representative each.

The third player from the metro is Zolani Ndlebe, of Zwide outfit Sunrise – relegated from the local SAB League last month.

With six players, Cacadu Municipality has the most representatives.

The full squad is: Zolani Ndlebe, Gregory Kevin Damons, Mihlali Mkonto (NMB), Siyanga Toni, Ntsapo Sotshononda (Amatole), Luvuyo Hans, Siyabonga Vuso, Lelethu Mfo, Sivuyile Thukani, Sinethemba Mitiyo, Lelethu Mini (Cacadu), Makabongwe Mtshikilana, Lunga Gcinga Mgolombane (Alfred Nzo), Phakamani Lange (Joe Nqabi), Siyamthanda Njwambana (Buffalo City). - Mogan Segadavan
