Quins kick off Cup campaign with huge win

HARLEQUINS kicked off the President's Cup with a bang, running in nine tries in a 42-5 demolition of Park in a one-sided affair at the Adcock Stadium on Friday night.

Quins, who only managed one victory in the EP Grand Challenge first round, were determined to turn their season around and started the game on the offensive and made their intentions known early in the encounter.

Park, who have also been blowing hot and cold with some inconsistent performances, could not cope with the northern areas side's onslaught and were kept on the back foot throughout the game.

The former Eastern Cape Super 12 and Sevens champions went to the halftime break comfortably leading 21-0.

The second half was not any different as the home side continued where they left off and dominated until the last whistle.

A good crowd kept Quins' momentum going, giving the players much-needed support after a bad start to the year.

Park could only manage an unconverted try while a further 21 points sealed the bonus-point victory for the hosts and put them in the number one spot in group A.
