Rhodes looking for first victory

RHODES, who went down to Gelvan Hurricanes in Grahamstown last weekend, face a stiff double-header as they strive to find the winning touch in the EP men's premier hockey league this weekend.

After competing in the Varsity Cup, the Rhodians made their league debut this year on Sunday and quickly found the going tough as the Hurricanes won 3-0 in Grahamstown.

But the varsity will be looking to make amends when they meet Old Grey at the KC March astro tonight and Lakeside Cavaliers at the same venue on Sunday.

Old Grey suffered their first setback of the season against NMMU Madibaz last weekend, but they have been in good form this season and will be looking for a strong performance against the Rhodians.

Lakeside Cavaliers have a weekend of facing the Rhodians because this evening they take on the Thistles before Sunday's clash with the top varsity team. Two wins for the PE outfit would boost their season.

Gelvan Hurricanes and the Madibaz will be fancied to earn full points against Thistles and Pirates in Sunday's 1pm games.

Sunday, 11.30am: NMMU Madibaz v St Peters at NMMU, Rhodes v Old Collegians at Rhodes
